Don’t eat if you’re not hungry
That’s not only good dieting advice.
It works in just about every endeavor we sign up for.
The system would like us to be insatiable on its behalf, but that’s not an invitation we’re required to accept.

It is easy to answer the question posed in the title, if we limit hunger to the biological signal we receive and process when the body demands food or, water or other form of nutrition.
It is also, for most people, easy to choose a response: eat, drink or tell yourself it is not meal time yet.
But if the question is expanded to all other things we crave, need or want — power, money, status, material goods — do we then truly know when we are hungry? Or to flip the question: do we know when we are not hungry? Do we know when we have had enough? Do we know what to do with what remains after we have had our fill? Do we know when we have had our fill, even?
Those are questions for each of us to attempt, daily.
