Eleven lessons from 11 years of marriage

  1. There is no substitute for open, honest conversations. ALWAYS keep the environment safe – as open and honest conversations only exist and thrive of the fertile ground of safety.
  2. Sometimes, all you need to do is listen.
  3. The time for solutioning will come and you will have the opportunity to say what you think could have been done better or avoided etc.
  4. You are your partner’s biggest cheerleader. Don’t cede that role, irrespective of what is going on in the world.
  5. There is always a common ground. Find it.
  6. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Seriously, there is more to life that your ego.
  7. Trust. Don’t lose it. Tough to regain.
  8. Love. With your whole heart.
  9. True, no one is perfect, but love shouldn’t be conditional – especially in marriage.
  10. Introspect. You, like most of the world, are a work in progress.
  11. Always be learning and willing to learn.

By no means an exhaustive list. But these comes readily to mind.
